In 2016, BackpackEMR Founder, Lori Most, created a portable Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system for rural mobile clinics, and is supporting organizations across 24 countries to improve the impact of their health services for people without access to health facilities. BackpackEMR eases collaboration and connects Haitian staff and American medical volunteers to make patient care more effective.

In this session, special guest Ambassador Dan Foote (Former Special Envoy to Haiti) and Nathan Ruby (Executive Director of FOTCOH) discuss current political and social challenges in Haiti as well as long-term solutions.
Recently retired career diplomat Dan Foote was named United States Special Envoy for Haiti in 2021. This followed his stint on the faculty of the Marine Corps War College. Known for his leadership acumen, judgment, and communication skills, he has held diverse senior foreign policy positions. His diplomatic and leadership tools were honed directing several of the U.S. government’s largest overseas programs in the world’s most challenging, high-threat environments.
